Probably The Best £1.99 I Spent (Flashback Friday)

I was tidying away the bath time paraphernalia earlier tonight, how two boys can sit comfortably in a tub of water with so many toys surrounding them is a mystery to me! Anyway, as I was shaking the water off and putting away the colourful stacking cups, it made me realise that we have had them for over 4 years now and they are as popular with the boys now as they were when Burton was given them as a 6 month old baby!

I think they cost about £1.99 from Early Learning Centre, and for the money they have probably been the best value item I have bought to be played with by firstly Burton and then later on Jenson.  When Burton first started to sit up we would spend ages playing with them, banging them together to make noises and then me stacking them up and the encouraging him to knock them down. Which actually did not take much persuading! I would often stack them up and then pretend to either sneeze and then sneakily knock them down, or blow them down and this would send Burton into fits of giggles! We really did make so much use out of them. As he got a little bigger it did not take him long to learn how to stack them himself and then he would blow them over – or maybe just knock them over actually – to show me and this would be very funny and entertaining over and over again also!

Then of course there was blowing raspberries into them – even if that was done the wrong  way round!

As he got bigger another favourite game we would play with the stacking cups , was placing them all on the carpet and concealing an object underneath one of them, and then getting him to find which stacking cup was hiding the object. He loved this and then he would do it to me and of course I would pretend not to know for ages which he adored. He soon sussed this out though, and then when it was his turn to look for the item, even if he had worked out where which cup was hiding it, he would still take ages to uncover it because he enjoyed being able to make the game last longer. He would pick up all the other colours repeatedly knowing full well that they were empty! Clever boy!

Stacking cups are great with water of course and ideal for throwing cold pool water over little unsuspecting brother!!

I love taking out and then putting away the stacking cups for bath time  – so many wonderful memories associated with them. They really have been brilliant toys and probably the best £1.99 I have spent since being a Mummy!

  1. What lovely photos! Stacking cups are great aren’t they – E had some when he was little which have been passed down to his sister now. I’m sure they will end up in the bath soon too!

  2. Stacking cups are amazing. They keep kids amused for ages! I remember on holiday, Z spent ages filling paper coca cola cups with water and the pouring the water back out in to the pool. x

  3. We’ve had ours now since the eldest was a baby – nearly nine years! And I couldn’t part with them because of all the memories with both the boys. I think our stack is identical to yours and this really made me smile. Thank you for sharing such a simple pleasure – it brought a lot of joy 🙂

Thank you for taking the time to leave a comment, a virtual cup of tea and slice of cake awaits you x
